Lisa J. Borodkin
Ms. Borodkin contributes over ten years of trial experience to Callahan & Blaine. Ms. Borodkin specializes in federal court litigation and the resolution of complex commercial disputes. Her substantive expertise is copyright, trademark and new media law. Ms. Borodkin’s civil dispute resolution experience includes extensive federal court litigation as well as proceedings before the AAA, JAMS, and NASD. She has also represented parties in regulatory proceedings by the NYSE, SEC, the United States Department of Justice and numerous State Attorney General's offices. Since 1997, Ms. Borodkin has also rendered advice on brand protection and strategies for building portfolios of intellectual property assets, including copyrights, trademarks and new media rights in the fashion, music, motion picture and sports industries.
Ms. Borodkin received her A.B. cum laude from Harvard University and her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law. Her Columbia Law Review note,"The Economics of Antiquities Looting and a Proposed Legal Alternative," is frequently cited in international publications concerning art and cultural property.
Ms. Borodkin was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1998 and to the State Bar of New York in 2003. She is admitted to U.S. District Court in the Central and Southern Districts of California and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Borodkin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Diane P. Wood, United States Court of Appeals Judge for the Seventh Circuit, and as a law clerk to the Honorable I. Leo Glasser, United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York.
Ms. Borodkin combines her law practice with active involvement in Southern California’s entertainment and new media community. Ms. Borodkin is a member of the State Bar of California, Intellectual Property Section and the New York State Bar Section on Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law. She is Assistant General Counsel to the U.S. Sports Film Festival and a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She is an avid blogger and a regular contributor to online copyright and entertainment law publications.
