Actor hospitalized and in intensive care after crash

Any collision in which injuries are suffered is a tragedy. When the car accident involves a celebrity, the tragedy will make news headlines. This is the case with Tracy Morgan, a successful and popular comedic performer who was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash.

Morgan is most famous for his run on the iconic NBC program, "Saturday Night Live." He played many different characters on that show across a number of years. He was also featured on NBC's "30 Rock," which is helmed by fellow SNL alum Tina Fey.

The accident occurred last Saturday. Morgan had been traveling in a chauffeured Mercedes limousine bus with several other people, including his friend James McNair, 62. A tractor-trailer rammed into the back of limousine. As a result, McNair, a comedian who was a mentor to Morgan, was killed. Morgan and others were injured.

Morgan and another passenger were flown to Robert Johnson Wood Hospital directly from the accident scene. At the hospital, both were pronounced to be in critical condition by a hospital spokesperson. Morgan was still in the intensive care unit as of Saturday night. He is said to be receiving excellent care, and his family is with him.

The accident, which occurred at about 1 a.m. in the morning on the New Jersey Turnpike, caused the limousine bus to overturn. The driver of the tractor-trailer that hit it is now facing charges. These include death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. His bail has been set at $50,000.

In cases like this, the first thing those injured will want to do is address their injuries at a medical facility. After that, they may want to explore their legal options for seeking compensation from the at-fault driver and his or her employer.
