2 dead in motorcycle-vehicle collision in California

Two people are dead following an accident involving a car and a motorcycle that occurred in Tarzana around 11 p.m. on April 12. Police believe speed played a factor in the fatal motorcycle crash.

According to preliminary investigations, the wreck transpired when a 30-year-old Tarzana man operating a motorcycle at high speeds collided with a sedan at an intersection as the sedan driver, a 60-year-old woman, attempted to make a left turn. When the motorcyclist struck the car, he was ejected from his bike and thrown through the car's left front window. Both drivers died at the scene. When officials arrived, they found the motorcyclist on the passenger's side of the vehicle and his motorcycle approximately 50 feet from the car.

A personal injury attorney may be able to advise a family whose loved one suffered fatal injuries in a car accident. During the grieving family's time of loss, they may also be overwhelmed with economic burdens. The death of a parent or spouse who was the primary wage earner of a household could possibly threaten the family's sense of security and financial stability.

It may be possible for a family experiencing similar difficulties to pursue compensation through a wrongful death claim. If there is reasonable cause to believe that an auto accident was caused by a speeding or careless driver, they could be held responsible for damages. If the driver accused of negligence died in the crash, the plaintiff could recover from the estate of the deceased. Information from the accident investigation, witness statements and documents of the plaintiff's losses can serve as evidence in the suit, advancing the surviving family's allegations of driver negligence. If the plaintiff wins the case, remuneration might cover burial and funeral costs and, in some situations, loss of companionship.
