Off-duty police officer dies in motorcycle accident

On Sept. 6, a Southern California police officer was killed in a traffic accident in Torrance, authorities reported. The police officer, an 18-month veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, was not on duty at the time of the fatal crash. The officer had been driving a personal motorcycle, a Yamaha R6, south on Western Avenue when he collided with a Kia Optima at the 234th Street intersection, according to authorities.
