Calvin Zhou

Educated at the University of California, Irvine, Mr. Zhou earned a Juris Doctor in 2014 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology in 2009. His academic pursuits have equipped him with a strong foundation in legal analysis, problem solving, and a deep understanding of the intersections between law, technology, and business.

With his in-house experience, Mr. Zhou has transformed the legal department into a pivotal component of the executive management structure, providing key insights and guidance on product development, corporate strategy, and risk management. His leadership has been instrumental in drafting, evaluating, and negotiating a broad range of contracts that include partnerships, supply agreements, and customer contracts, all aligned with the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Previously at Universal Global Scientific Industrial Co., Ltd. (USI), one of the leading EMS companies in the world, Mr. Zhou acted as its sole counsel for North America and was responsible for leading all legal operations in the United States and Mexico. His management of a U.S. Department of Commerce audit for the company’s manufacturing plant in Mexico exemplifies his proactive approach in identifying and mitigating regulatory risks. Mr. Zhou adeptly handled a range of employment issues and litigation in the U.S., as well as international claims under various jurisdictions including those in Singapore and Vietnam, effectively minimizing legal risks and safeguarding the company’s interests. His legal strategies in contractual negotiations have consistently resulted in favorable outcomes, safeguarding client interests and enhancing corporate reputation.

During his tenure with several litigation firms, Mr. Zhou significantly advanced his expertise in complex litigation. He handled a broad range of employment disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage and hour violations. Beyond employment law, Mr. Zhou also gained substantial experience in complex civil litigation, including construction defect cases, general liability defense, and contractual disputes. This diverse legal background has equipped him with a deep understanding of multiple facets of litigation, enhancing his ability to effectively resolve multifaceted legal challenges.

Mr. Zhou is an active member of the California State Bar and holds memberships in the Orange County Bar Association.
